Mark Tan contributes to Seputeh Community Blog

Folks!
These are two pictures which Mark Tan sent in an email where he raised the issue of security at the walkway near TS1:

Hi Attached are pix of the junction at Jalan 1. As I frequently walk to midvaley Im wondering what has happened to the upkeep of the walk way. I do believe that the fence was put up to fend of snatch theives. I do not understand what the purpose of all the plants are. They are now overgrown and provide ample hiding places for would be muggers. The situation is more unsafe at night. I was informed that the idea has its pros and cons but Im yet to see any of the proa as I belive there was a snatch theft incident recently. I hope something can be done about the situation here before anything worse happens.

We welcome feedback or comments.

Best regards,

If I have the same road (I am new to the area), it appears that they are beginning to mend the drain covers, lets hope they last this time.

Oh also meant to ask. Are dogs a deterrent to criminals in the area??? I am hoping so!

How about the positioning of the 7-Eleven signpost??......right in the middle of the pavement. How lacking in civic consciousness is that? Right next door to the Alzheimers Day care Centre.
I know it won't mug or rob you, but it is a danger to pedestrains never the less.
The amazing thing is that there is lots of space at the inner edge of the pavement, which if placed there would not be a hazard, and the sign could still be clearly seen.
The trouble with common sense is that it is not very common!

As I have mentioned to David in the earlier posting regarding the steet trees, all this boils down to lack of common sense and maintainance. Resident associations
are set up to handle such issues but sadly I have no idea what has happened to SRA. Maybe it needs some new blood that have better ideas and more time to dedicate in dealing with these matters.
As of this morning the situation at Jalan ts1 remains the same. No one has yet to explain what action will be taken to rectify this death trap. It is understandable that we are all busy with personal stuff but those who volunteer to be part of associations and task forces should ensure they have the time to didicate to it. I can say from experience that security companies and guards are not easy to handle. At first they will promise you heaven and earth but like maids after a few months there will be a lot of issues to deal with that will take up a lot of time. I do hope to get some news on the health of SRA if it still exists or if a more viable option is being set up. It would be good if folks with expertise in certain areas like David (landscaping) could be part of the team that will create a better enviroment for all.

Dogs are a deterrent and also most loveable of pets but I have heard of dogs being given laced treats. You also cannot take your dog with you to work should you happen to use public transport or to walk to the mall. If you do decide to get a dog do make sure to have him well trained so constant barks for no reason do not bother others. Do not get dangerous guard dogs that are difficut to handle as well. Most important of all dont get a dog just for the sake of keeping your house safe . Dogs are loyal and lovable companions that need a lot of care. They too need dedicated owners. If your keen on getting one please contact me as I know a few good folks who have rescued dogs that need loving homes. wolf.mpt@gmail.com

Why are they building more bungalows, killing trees on a hilly slope?

We are staying in Robson Condo. What used to be a lovely view from our unit is slowly turning into eyesore. Developers are buildling luxury bungalows on the hill right in front of our condo. Everyday, I see the excavator digging up trees, exposing ugly red earth.

Will these open up the area to allow intruders to walk in and out the 'forest reserve' area?

Welcome to the Seputeh community blog, Mellie.
Which hill are you talking about? Would it be nearby to Seputeh Heights side?
