Daylight Snatch Theft... Japan Club-Mid Valley

Fellow Orang Seputeh,
We have always been warning ladies walking along the roads to beware of snatch thieves at night.

Now they are bold enough to strike in the mornings -- this morning.

An office worker on the way to Mid Valley had her handbag snatched by two men on a motorcycle near the U-turn outside Japan Club. The thieves simply jumped the divider and went across into the Mid Valley ring road to make good their escape.

She did not resist and the culprits just sped off.

Of course, she lodged a report and became a statistic. What else can the police do?

They can increase patrols and put men in mufti or even send unmarked cars but the menace remains.

Isn't it time to take a pro-active stance? Perhaps, a neighbourhood watch? Paid security? Unpaid security (if there is such a thing as a free lunch, come and show me). More lip-service? More debate? Soft whispers on terraces or corridors?

Or, let it be and don't do anything?

Think, fellow Orang Seputeh, think deep and hard.

Best regards,
Orang Seputeh

Neighbours helped nab a thief on motorcycle

Fellow Orang Seputeh,

I must also share this piece of good news albeit a little late.

Alert neighbours foiled two thieves as they tried to make their getaway along Jalan Tanjung Sepat 1 last week.

Neighbours saw two suspicious characters on a motorcycle carting away some metallic objects from a house under construction and they alerted the police.

A police team confronted them and the thieves sped off. In their haste, the motorcycle crashed and one suspect who was injured was nabbed. The other escaped.

Here is a good example of Seputeh neighbours watching out for one another.

It was later found that quite a lot of construction materials had been squirrelled away in the past weeks.

Daylight Housebreaking... In Seputeh

Fellow Orang Seputeh,

It is with a heavy heart that I report a house at Jalan Taman Seputeh 3 was broken into earlier this week -- in the afternoon when the occupants were away at work.

Thieves got into the house through a window that was accidentedly left unlocked that day -- and the alarm was not activated.

We can never be too careful and, please, let us watch out for each other as good neighbours should.

Best regards,
Orang Seputeh
