Message from SRA Security Chairman

Security Scheme starts Nov 1 -- Sign Up Now
The SRA Security Committee (SSC) is now ready to launch the SRA Security Scheme for Seputeh on Nov 1, 2009.
We have gone through a thorough and painstaking process of gathering feedback from residents, evaluating various options and finally selecting a service provider.
Our entire journey – from call for tenders to several rounds of evaluation and finally, awarding the tender to the successful bidder – has undergone scrutiny by 11 residents on Sept 5. These 11 scrutineers are independent from the SRA Committee and the SSC.
Further, they selected from amongst them, three individuals to peruse the process as well as details of the bids and how the SSC made its decision. These three, Mr Tan Chin Shu, Encik Sulaiman Ahmad and Mr Naveen Kumar, went through the documents for two hours on Sept 8 and were satisfied with the transparency and governance standards adopted by the SSC.
Having cleared these two levels of scrutiny, we proceeded into final negotiations with the successful bidder – Force One Security Sdn Bhd – from Sept 8 till end-September. We have now signed the service agreement for patrols to start on Nov 1.
For the scheme to work, we need the support of everyone in Seputeh. Here, we are lucky to have volunteers to be street representatives.In the next few days, these street representatives and SRA Committee members will visit you to seek your subscription to the scheme.
On behalf of the SRA Security Committee, I would like to take this opportunity to invite you to join us for a simple "launch" of our scheme on Saturday, 31 October, 2009 at 9 pm at the playground in front of the shophouses along Jalan Teluk Pulai. Please sign up and help contribute towards enhanced security in Seputeh.
All cheques should be issued to "SRA Security Fund" and all payments will be issued a receipt. We do not encourage you to pay cash but if you do, please insist on an official receipt immediately. Thank you.
Best regards,

About Seputeh Security Scheme

SRA SECURITY SCHEME (The Scheme) w.e.f Nov 1, 2009

Objective
The Scheme is a voluntary subscription scheme open to all in Seputeh – members or non-members. We have the full support of Brickfields police who have pledged their continued vigilance.The appointed security company will liaise closely with the Brickfields police station. Our objective would be met once visitors get the perception that Seputeh is a “secured neighbourhood” and criminals avoid our community – Perception Makes Reality!

How It Works
1. Every street will be patrolled once an hour, 24-hours a day, with three men from 7am-7pm and four men from 7pm-7am
2. Nepali guards will be deployed with local supervisors
3. Patrol routes will be carefully planned and clocking points will be strategically located to ensure all streets are patrolled
4. Two security cabins with boom gates will be set up at:
• Junction of Jln Tmn Seputeh & Jln Bkt Raja (near mosquito trap)
• Jln Tg 12 entrance to Kommuter Station5. Normal traffic will not be
hindered. Boom gates will only be lowered in an emergency
6. Incident escalation process involves lockdown, police called to the scene and a police report lodged. Each lockdown means all vehicles will be stopped and checked with police assistance
7. Scheme will operate under a separate account called SRA Security Fund with separate Hon. Treasurer and independent auditors
8. Each subscriber will get a plaque to be displayed on the gate
9. Emergency call centre numbers including mobile numbers of guard supervisors will be given to all subscribers

Monthly Subscription
Monthly subscriptions – to be collected in advance every 6 months – are:
* RM40 for single-storey terrace houses & townhouses
* RM60 for 2-storey or 3-storey link houses, shops at Jln T.Pulai & Bkt Raja
* RM70 for semi-detached houses
* RM85 for detached houses/bungalows
* RM30 for offices on top of shops at Jln Bkt Raja

This 5-tier rate is most practical after considering:
• Per capita system: Based on number of persons
• Single Tier: One rate for all
• Hybrid: A single-tier plus head-count

The above information is based on the SRA Committee blog posting here.

Now that the SRA Security Committee has done all the brainstorm and legwork, it is time ALL Orang Seputeh rise to the challenge of enhancing security in our community.

Say No to crime! It's time to act for the greater good! Yes, to self-help. Yes to SRA Security Scheme.

Best regards,
Orang Seputeh
